Using Socrative in the Classroom - Part 1

Socrative is a great tool for getting instant feedback from students. There are a lot of things that can be done with socrative, so we'll break them up in several posts.

The first thing you will need to do is register. Click this link and you will get this screen:

Click the "register" tab. This screen will appear:

You would need to provide your e-mail address and a password. Socrative will send the results of any activity to your e-mail address. After you register, you will be taken to this screen:

Go through the tutorial. It will show you various aspects of the program.

After the tutorial, you will be able to try it out. We'll try an "exit ticket" first:

An exit ticket can be used to find out about how well a student "got" the lesson. Have the students go to the socrative student link. My name is on the link, but the link should work for anyone. The important thing is to make sure the students type in the correct room number.

Have the students type in the room number. They would then click "start activity." The exit ticket activity will show up on the students' computers and they would answer the questions that appear on their screens. After the students are finished, click "end activity and send report."

You will receive an e-mail that shows the student names and their answers to the questions. Here is what the document looks like in Google Docs:

Later we will explore other aspects of Socrative.
